Ready or Not – A Poem

I hide in the shed
but he finds me there
I try the cupboard under the stairs
but he catches me again
I hide under lots of clothes
but he looks beneath those
So I hide in the bed
but realise that’s expected

At last I hide in my head
he can’t get me then
I’m lost in thought
Not physical anymore
I am safe

Until I meet you
My love
And realise with despair
I’m stuck in here

  1. Okay, R.O.S., Mike–

Had my recently launched “Ready or Not” novel inspired this poem? Or am I reading too much into this?

No kidding, and I take this either as a compliment or a strange syzygy that brought our thoughts together: it FEELS like one of my protagonists, Ann Lambert, assault victim, could have written this very poem!

It gives me a little chill!

You can tell me anything (yes, even that!)
